General: Advanced to the third round of the William & Mary Invitational…advanced to the “C” flight singles finals of the Carolina Classic…compiled an 8-4 fall singles record…competed in the ITA Southeast Regional Championships with doubles partner Caroline Hill.
Junior year: Compiled a 19-11 singles record…saw action in the Fripp Island Tournament winning three straight singles matches…went 8-5 at No. 5 singles…won two straight matches in the ACC Tournament defeating NC State and Wake Forest…was the only Carolina player not plagued by injury…had a strong fall, winning the “B” Flight at the Fripp Island Invitational and placing third in the Blue draw at the UNC Invitational.
Sophomore year: Tied for the team lead with 24 singles wins ... went 11-5 at No. 5 singles and 4-3 at No. 4... was 8-7 against ACC opponents ... posted a victory at No. 5 singles in Carolina’s NCAA Tournament win versus Washington ... was 9-9 while playing with Caroline Hill, mostly at No. 2 doubles.
Freshman year: Went 11-11 in dual matches, going 10-6 at No. 4 singles ... played doubles with Sarah Hawkins, posting an 11-11 mark overall and an 11-9 record at the No. 2 doubles spot ... won the B flight singles at the 1997 Lady Gamecock Fall Classic.
Prep: Played all four years at Riverside High School ... played No. 1 and No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles ... was team captain ... was team MVP 1994-97 ... won state championship her junior year ... was the state Player-of-the-Year her junior and senior years ... played on the South Carolina Federation Cup team in 1995-97 ... played on the Southern team which won the Intersectional tournament in 1996 and 97 ... named to the All-State team four straight years ... named Athlete of the Year in South Carolina by the Spartanburg Herald in 1997.
Personal: Courtney Ann Zalinski is the daughter of Stephen and Kathleen Zalinski ... has two sisters ... her dad played No. 1 singles for DePaul University ...sister Kelly played for Notre Dame ... she was born January 29, 1979.
