LAS VEGAS, Nev. --- North Carolina sophomore Katrina Tsang saw her run in the 2008 Freeman Memorial Tennis Championship fall one match short, as Tsang lost to No. 51 Amanda Fink of USC, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1, in Sunday's flight one singles final. Tsang and junior Austin Smith advanced to the flight one doubles final, where they fell to Stanford's Jessica Nguyen and Whitney Deason, 8-2.

Tsang and Smith needed a semifinal win over Florida's Anastasia Revzina and Lolita Frangulyan to reach the final, and the UNC pair triumphed, 8-5. In an added singles match, junior Laura Reichert fell to No. 22 Whitney McCray of Georgia Tech in three sets, 3-6, 6-1, 7-5.

The 12th-ranked Tar Heels will begin the dual match spring season on Jan. 18 with a home doubleheader. Carolina will welcome UNC Greensboro and Elon to the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center beginning at 3 p.m.
