Carolina Volleyball To Offer Spring Clinics

Clinics will be offered on Tuesdays, beginning in late March at Carmichael Arena.

University of North Carolina's head volleyball coach Joe Sagula announced May 26 that Tyler Adams will remain on staff with the Tar Heels and will serve as assistant coach. Adams joined the Tar Heels last season as a volunteer assistant coach guiding UNC to their highest win total since 2002.

"I am really excited to add Tyler on a full-time basis," said Sagula "He has in-depth knowledge of our team and university. Tyler has earned this opportunity and will make an impact on our program. I am looking forward to Tyler being with our program for a number of years ahead."

"I want to thank Coach Sagula and the Administration for this opportunity," said Adams. "I am excited about the future of the UNC program and I hope to build on the success we had last season. I couldn't ask for a better coaching staff to work with and learn from."

In the summer of 2010, Adams served as a technical assistant on the USA Volleyball A2 Blue National Team. The National Team, comprised of the top collegiate women's volleyball players in the country with at least one year of remaining eligibility, captured the gold medal June 3, 2010 at the USA Volleyball Open National Championship in Phoenix, Ariz. The Tar Heel assistant coach will again work with USA Volleyball coaching the Select A2 team competing for the High Performance Championships in Tucson, Ariz.

Prior to joining Carolina in 2010, Adams served as an assistant coach for two years (2008, 2010) at the University of Central Florida. In between his coaching stints, Adams played and coached overseas in Germany. He guided Oberliga professional volleyball team, helping guide his Third Division squad to a league championship in 2009.

A 2008 graduate of UCF, Adams played five years for the Knights' club volleyball team. He was honored by the NIRSA as a second team All-American in 2008. From 2006-08 Adams served as a player coach for the club team, before taking over the team as a head coach in 2009.
