Brianna Eskola Named Second Team All-ACC

Nov. 27, 2007

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Junior libero Brianna Eskola was selected to the All-ACC Second Team on Tuesday as the teams were announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference office. Eskola is the first Tar Heel to earn All-ACC honors since Dani Nyenhuis was selected to the first team in 2005. Eskola led the league in digs on the season with 648 an average of 5.84 per game en route to breaking the Carolina career digs record.

Eskola was a constant anchor for the Carolina defense as she posted three matches with at least 30 digs, including a season-high 34 in UNC's 3-2 win over Wake Forest when the Columbia Heights, Minn. native broke Caroline deRoeck's career digs mark of 1,579. Eskola has tallied 1,642 in her three-year career and now needs just 369 digs to break the ACC career mark of 2,010 held by Wake Forest's Trina Maso de Moya.
